Medea travelling project/ performance

This project is the performance part of the “Medea Travelling” project, which creates works in different artistic disciplines: It brings together visual artists Simon Wachsmuth, Yasemin Nur and performing artist Emre Koyuncuoğlu in a collaborative work. The planning of the project began during an artist residency of Yasemin Nur and Emre Koyuncuoğlu in Tbilisi, Georgia, and was later further developed when Simon Wachsmuth and Emre Koyuncuoğlu were in residence at the Tarabya Cultural Academy. In the process, the Medea myth is revisited and a critical look is applied to all dramatic texts. In this Medea narrative, a very unusual interpretation is made of the role of children, who are brought into the field as victims in the struggle for the rights of an immigrant mother. The performance is conceived as an interweaving of video art, installation, experimental sound performance and sound installation, interactive theater and narrative tradition, and contemporary dance in a unique space.

This performance is presented with the support of the Tarabya Cultural Academy and Allianz Kulturstiftung and hosted by Salt Beyoğlu.
