Deniz Utlu
Deniz Utlu lives in Berlin. He studied economics at the Free University of Berlin and at the Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne. In 2014 he published his first novel, Die Ungehaltenen (The Indignant), which was adapted for the stage by the Maxim Gorki Theatre in 2015. In 2019, his second novel, Gegen Morgen (Towards Morning), was published by Suhrkamp. His essays have been published in the features sections of various newspapers and magazines (FAZ, SZ, Tagesspiegel, Der Spiegel, Der Freitag) and in anthologies (most recently, Eure Heimat ist unser Albtraum; Wir. Gestern. Heute. Hier). From 2003 to 2014, he edited the culture and society magazine freitext. He also curates the literary series “Prosa der Verhältnisse” at the Maxim Gorki Theatre.
Deniz Utlu was a resident at Tarabya Cultural Academy from February to May 2022.
