for an employee for the
Tarabya Cultural Academy
with a scope of employment of 75%

The Goethe-Institut is the globally active cultural institute of the Federal Republic of Germany. We promote knowledge of the German language abroad and foster international cultural cooperation. The Cultural Academy Tarabya is a residency program for artists of all disciplines in Istanbul. It was founded in 2011 on the initiative of the German Bundestag and promotes artistic exchange between Turkey and Germany. Every year, the residency program enables around 20 artists who live and work in Germany to receive a four to eight month scholarship at Tarabya Cultural Academy as well as German-Turkish artist tandems, as a part of co-production residencies awarded in cooperation with Allianz Foundation.

The job includes the following tasks:

  •  Program coordination for the programs of the Tarabya Cultural Academy:
    • – On-site support for artists: networking with the Turkish art and culture scene, organization of research trips and events
    • – Conception of formats for artist in residence, studio visits, etc.
    • – Establishing and maintaining contacts with institutions and stakeholders in the areas of responsibility
  • Collaboration in the conception and implementation of events of the Cultural Academy in Turkey and Germany, in particular (major) events with a high public profile
  • Project-related public relations work for events
  • Project-related reporting
  • Project-related budget monitoring and accounting

    Tarabya Cultural Academy is looking for the following qualifications:

  • Relevant university degree (preferably in cultural management) or a comparable degree
  • Professional experience in the field of cultural management
  • German language skills at native speaker level and very good knowledge of Turkish and English
  • Good IT skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Ability and willingness to work independently
  • Willingness to occasionally work evenings and weekends
  • Well-developed organizational skills, flexibility and ability to work under pressure
  • Good communication skills and a confident manner, ability to work in a team
  • Intercultural competence

    The working conditions, including remuneration, are based on the remuneration scheme of the Goethe-Institut Istanbul.
