A lot of artists from various disciplines who live and work in Germany applied for a four or eight-month residency at the Tarabya Cultural Academy in Istanbul as part of the Open Call until December 31st 2024. In addition, many tandems of artists and cultural professionals from Germany and Türkiye applied for the co-production grants which are being awarded in cooperation with the Allianz Foundation.

The grants provide artists and cultural practitioners from Germany a space for the contemplative development and realization of their creative work in exchange and cooperation with local artists and cultural institutions in Türkiye. The promotion and intensification of cultural exchange and dialogue between Germany and Türkiye, the opening up of new perspectives on German-Turkish relations and the support of the artistic development of creative artists from both countries are central aspects of the program of the Tarabya Cultural Academy. In addition, the residency provides a protected space for artistic creation in increasingly challenging times.

Applications for the residency in Istanbul starting from October 2025 were accepted until 31.12.2024. The application deadline has expired and no further applications are currently being accepted. The Open Call for the residencies in 2026/27 will be announced in autumn 2025.
