Listening Inside-Out - Listening workshop with Fulya Uçanok & Ulrike Ruf
As part of their coproduction residency at the Tarabya Cultural Academy, musicians and sound artists Fulya Uçanok & Ulrike Ruf are in cooperation with Performistanbul presenting the listening workshop Listening Inside-Out on May 2nd from 14.00 – 16.00h. This workshop explores themes of listening with and beyond the ears, slowing down, experiencing time & space.
Beginning at the dense and touristic site of Galata Tower, participants are invited to immerse themselves in the surrounding soundscape, experiencing the intensity, and transforming it within the field of listening. The group takes a silent walk to the contrasting soundscape of calm and green space of PerformIstanbul’s garden. Guided by prompts and questions, participants are invited to open ears through explorations of different modes of listening.
In the garden, a collective slow-walking practice inspired by deep listening invites heightened sensory awareness and attunement to the body, time and space.
The workshop culminates in a retreat into Nazlı Gürlek’s installation—the “womb”—at Performistanbul where participants are invited to imagine and listen inwardly.
The workshop explores listening as a connection between inside and outside: tuning into listening holistically to space, body, reflection, and imagination.
The event will take place in English language.
Snacks and a space for exchange will be provided as part of the event.
As the capacity of the event is limited, registration is required for participation.
