The German-American artist Bettina Allamoda was born in Chicago and has lived in Berlin since 1982. The starting point of her work is the analysis and uncovering of hidden politics of visibility that are inscribed in the surfaces of popular cultural phenomena such as fashion, art and architecture. The focus is on the investigation of the body in space with regard to architectural contexts, but also the analysis of material and medium. She has received numerous scholarships, including the Stiftung Kunstfonds Bonn, a Berlin working scholarship and a residency scholarship from the German Academy Villa Massimo in Rome. Her extensive oeuvre has been shown internationally for over three decades in solo and group exhibitions in galleries, project spaces, art associations/art spaces, museums and public spaces and combines groundbreaking sculptures, reliefs, installations, collages, documentary photography, screen printing, drawing, video and performance, as well as artist books, her own publications and curatorial projects.

Bettina Allamoda was a fellow of the Tarabya Cultural Academy from February to May 2024.
