Biene Pilavci
Biene Pilavci completed two training courses before starting her film career. During a one-year stay in Spain, she co-founded the Escanda socio-cultural center in Asturias. In 2005, she began her studies in fiction directing at the German Film and Television Academy Berlin (DFFB). During her studies, she made several short films, including the film RISS with Klass Heufer-Umlauf and Aylin Tezel, which was awarded the rating “particularly valuable”. Biene Pilavci completed her studies in 2012 with the documentary Dancing Alone about the power of family. Against the backdrop of the Gezi Park protests in June 2013/15, she co-directed Chronik einer Revolte – ein Jahr Istanbul, her second feature-length directorial work about the longing for democracy. The film was commissioned by ZDF – Das kleine Fernsehspiel and ARTE and was broadcast several times in Germany and abroad in two different lengths (83 and 57 minutes). Pilavci took parental leave from 2017 to 2020, during which time she developed the material for the series Macht der Lakaien. She developed the theme further into various feature films – Lale sucht is a crime thriller and Nackt is a satirical tragicomedy about dealing with frustration. The latter is currently being further developed for the small TV drama. The focus is always on the power relations between men and women.
