Julia von Leliwa
Julia von Leliwa studied integrated design at the University of the Arts in Bremen. She has worked as a fashion designer for Viktor&Rolf and Balenciaga and as a costume designer with directors: Robert Wilson (The Life and Death of Marina Abramovic, 2011; Pushkin Fairy Tales, 2015; Luther dancing with the gods, 2017; Le Trouvère, 2018; ‘H’,2022), Tilman Hecker (Midnight, 2016 and I Capuleti e i Montecchi, 2016), Chris Kondek (Last Call, 2019),Saša Asentić (Dis Contact – 2023), Ann-Christine Rommen (Sporv og Engel, 2023) and Anne Martin (Umwandlung, 2023). In 2011 she was a fellow at the Akademie Schloss Solitude in Stuttgart. Since 2012, she has taught fashion design at German, Swiss and Iranian art academies. In Iran, she researched textile craft techniques and interculturality and received funding from the Goethe-Institut and the Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen – ifa.
Julia von Leliwa was a scholarship holder of the Tarabya Cultural Academy from June to September 2023.
