Hristina Susak studied composition and music theory with Iris ter Schiphorst and Gesine Schröder at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, followed by postgraduate studies with Mark Andre in Dresden. She went on to deepen her compositional skills with Toshio Hosokawa, Luca Francesconi and Lucia Ronchetti, among others. Her works are published by Casa Ricordi Milano and performed worldwide, including by the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra under Kazushi Ono at the Suntory Hall Summer Festival 2026 and by the Ensemble Intercontemporain at the Philharmonie de Paris. Her music has also been performed at the Biennale Musica di Venezia, Paris Fashion Week, the ECLAT Festival Neue Musik Stuttgart and the Volkstheater Wien, and by the Orchestre national d’Île-de-France, the MDR-Sinfonieorchester, the Arditti Quartet and the Neue Vocalsolisten. In 2025, she was a fellow of the Akademie der Künste Berlin and spent a three-month residency at the Villa Serpentara. She received the Advancement Award of the City of Vienna in 2021, followed in 2024 by the State Scholarship for Composition and a scholarship from the German Academic Scholarship Foundation. Since 2023, she has taught music theory at Berlin University of the Arts. She also works as a performance artist, music theorist and researcher.

Hristina Susak is in residence at the Tarabya Cultural Academy from October 2026 to January 2027.
