Daniela Danz

Daniela Danz (*1976) studied German language and literature and art history in Prague, Berlin, Leipzig and Halle and wrote her Ph.D. thesis on an architectural-historical topic. Currently she lives as a freelance writer in Kranichfeld. Her work includes poetry, novels and essays. She also works with composers and filmmakers. She has been teaching at the University of Hildesheim since 2009 and is the Vice President of the Mainz Academy of Science and Literature since 2021. Danz has received numerous awards such as the Rainer Malkowski Prize from the Bavarian Academy of Arts (2014), a scholarship from the German Academy in Rome (2016), the Art Prize from the Berlin Academy of Arts (2018), the German Prize for Nature Writing (2019) and the Günter Kunert Literature Prize (2021). Her most recent publications are: Wildniß, poems, Wallstein Verlag, Göttingen 2020; Long Escapes, a novel, Wallstein Verlag, Göttingen 2016.

Daniela Danz was a resident at the Tarabya Cultural Academy from October 2022 to January 2023.
